Saving Ganesh is a small, relationship-driven organization supported by people with backgrounds in conservation, filmmaking, logistics, community building and education.
Much of our work depends on trusted relationships developed over many years, particularly with people who understand the landscapes, cultures and wildlife of the places where we work.
Madawa Gamage

Madawa Gamage has been an important part of Saving Ganesh’s work in Sri Lanka for many years.
His combination of local knowledge, production experience, logistics skills and commitment to wildlife makes him invaluable in the field. Madawa helps us navigate everything from transportation and translation to filming and coordination with local communities and wildlife professionals.
Before working with Saving Ganesh, Madawa spent approximately ten years as a cameraman and producer with Vision Works, a major Sri Lankan commercial film production company. His professional production background, combined with his knowledge of Sri Lanka and passion for wildlife, allows him to help us document conservation issues in places and situations that would otherwise be difficult to access.
We are deeply grateful for his fearless spirit, steady presence, and unwavering dedication to the elephants—and to our mission.
Erik McFarland

Erik McFarland contributes to Saving Ganesh both in the field and behind the scenes.
He has participated in work alongside wildlife veterinarians and rangers and helps advise on outreach, community engagement and the broader direction of the organization.
Erik also contributes to our events and community gatherings, bringing experience in sound, meditation and other practices that reflect Saving Ganesh’s connection between conservation, culture and intentional community.
Saving Ganesh also works with a much larger network of wildlife veterinarians, rangers, filmmakers, naturalists, scientists, local guides, community leaders and volunteers whose participation changes depending on the particular project.
