This program offers a rare field immersion built on decades of collaboration with government veterinarians across Sri Lanka. Participants shadow and learn alongside up to seven field vets, gaining direct insight as they respond to emergency medical interventions, elephant welfare calls, and real-world conservation challenges.

Recommended Pre-Departure Preparation

To gain a foundational understanding of the history of elephant conflict and the ongoing issues facing Asian elephants, we suggest reviewing our extensive library of video blogs prior to departure. Studying these materials in advance ensures you are fully prepared for the context and dynamics of our daily fieldwork.

Payment Schedule & Booking Terms

Payment Structure

Deposit: 50% of the total tour fee is due upon application acceptance to secure your spot.

  1. Final Balance: The remaining 50% balance is due 2 weeks prior to departure.

  2. Late Bookings: Applications accepted less than 2 weeks before departure require full payment (100%) immediately upon acceptance.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

  • 30+ Days Before Departure: 50% refund of the deposit.

  • Under 30 Days Before Departure: Non-refundable due to finalized local logistics, permits, and accommodation commitments.

Participant Responsibilities

  1. Travel & Health Insurance: Participants must secure comprehensive international travel and medical insurance covering emergency field evacuation, trip cancellation, and medical treatment. Proof of coverage is required prior to departure.

  2. Medical & Physical Preparedness: Fieldwork takes place in outdoor environments (heat, rough terrain). Participants are responsible for ensuring they meet physical requirements and have necessary vaccinations (e.g., Rabies, Tetanus).

  3. Professional & Ethical Conduct: Participants must strictly follow all instructions given by lead conservationists and government veterinarians regarding safety, wildlife distance, and animal handling protocols.

Organization Limitations & Disclaimers

  • Wildlife & Field Unpredictability: While the tour is structured around active veterinary work, field calls, wildlife sightings, and specific veterinary interventions depend on real-time emergency events and natural animal behavior. Specific medical procedures or wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.

  • Force Majeure & Itinerary Changes: The organization reserves the right to alter daily field routes or schedules due to weather conditions, park closures, government restrictions, or safety concerns.

  • Limitation of Liability: The organization and its affiliates are not liable for personal injury, illness, lost/damaged property, or travel disruptions resulting from flight delays, weather events, or non-compliance with safety guidelines during the trip.
